We’re excited to announce the addition of two new team members to Grizzly’s leadership team. Building off a tremendous year of growth in 2018, the addition of Emma Santangelo as Strategy Director and Shawn Ritzenthaler as Creative Director demonstrates our commitment to continued growth, to amazing work and experience for our clients, and to opportunites for our team. We’re proud to have them join the next stage in our journey.
Santangelo comes to Grizzly from Los Angeles-based strategy powerhouses Zambezi and Phenomenon and most recently cut her entrepreneurial teeth as Strategy Director of a culinary-focused startup. Formerly Lead Designer at MiresBall, Ritzenthaler joins the Grizzly leadership team to guide Grizzly’s growing portfolio of hospitality, technology and consumer brands.
Ritzenthaler has extensive experience leading brand identity projects, packaging design, environmental and campaign creative, deep experience with consumer brands, and ability to translate humanity into meaningful illustration, art and design. He is recognized by industry organizations including Communication Arts, AIGA, Graphis, UnderConsideration and the American Advertising Association. Select clients include Intel, Shure, Petco, and Coronado Brewing Company.
“Shawn has a unique talent for seeing and articulating unseen opportunity for clients,” said Chief Creative Officer Greg Gibson. “From day one, we connected on the power of design to solve complex business challenges. He’s a strategic thinker with a gift for mentoring young designers, and we know he’ll be a valuable addition to our leadership team.”
Santangelo is a seasoned strategist willing to approach a wide range of strategic work from a creative, nontraditional point of view. “There is no one-size-fits-all for strategy. That’s what makes it so rewarding. It’s all about asking the right questions,” she said. Her philosophy has been greatly influenced by her travels and living abroad in Spain and Nicaragua respectively. She prides herself on bringing her unique life experiences into her work. Select clients include TaylorMade, Men’s Warehouse, Coca-Cola and KitchenAid. “Understanding the human spirit is everything. The more you can expose yourself to interesting people, new people. To interesting places, new places, to things that make you uncomfortable…both you and your work will be better for it.” Santangelo said.
